Objectives:

1. To introduce and familiarize students with sports vocabulary in English.

3. To promote students' understanding and appreciation of different sports and physical activities around the world.

4. To encourage teamwork and cooperation through sports-related activities.

Week 1:

Lesson 1: Introduction to Sports

- Show pictures or flashcards of different sports and elicit their names from students.

- Introduce new sports vocabulary, such as basketball, soccer, swimming, etc.

- Play a game of "What's missing?" where students have to remember the missing sports from a set of flashcards.

- Practice pronunciation and spelling of the new words through various activities like word drills and spelling games.

Lesson 2: Talking About Sports

- Teach students how to express their likes and dislikes for different sports using phrases like "I like," "I don't like," "I love," and "I hate."

- Model the language and have a class discussion about favorite sports.

- Pair students up and have them interview each other about their favorite sports.

- Share the findings with the class and encourage discussion.

Week 2:

Lesson 3: Sports Around the World

- Introduce students to popular sports from different countries, such as baseball (USA), cricket (England), and rugby (New Zealand).

- Show pictures and videos of these sports, and discuss their rules and cultural significance.

- Have a class debate on which sport is the best and why.

- Optional: Invite a guest speaker who is knowledgeable about a specific sport to talk to the class.

Lesson 4: Sports Idioms and Expressions

- Teach students common idioms and expressions related to sports, such as "hit it out of the park," "on the ball," and "keep your eye on the ball."

- Provide examples and explain their meanings.

- Have students create sentences and dialogues using the idioms and expressions.

Week 3:

- Discuss their achievements and impact on their respective sports.

- Have students research and share information about their own favorite sports personality.

- Optional: Organize a mini-presentation session where students can present their findings.

Lesson 6: Writing About a Sports Event

- Teach students how to write a descriptive paragraph about a sports event they have attended or watched.

- Guide them through the writing process, providing vocabulary and sentence structures as needed.

- Have students peer-review each other's writing and provide feedback.

- Display the best paragraphs in the classroom or publish them in a class newsletter.

Week 4:

Lesson 7: Sports Day

- Organize a sports day event for the class, where they can participate in various physical activities and sports games.

- Divide the class into teams and have them compete in friendly matches.

- Emphasize teamwork, fair play, and sportsmanship.

- Award certificates or small prizes to all participants.

Lesson 8: Review and Assessment
